Vanessa Mott is an attorney in the Firm’s Labor and Employment practice group in Carlsbad, California. Vanessa has been advising and defending employers for over twenty-five years, primarily in California state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies. Vanessa represents clients through all aspects of employment related disputes, up through, and including, jury trials and appeal. Vanessa’s practice focuses on single plaintiff claims of discrimination, retaliation, harassment, failure to accommodate, wrongful termination and failure to engage in the interactive process. She also routinely defends employers in actions filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the California Civil Right Department (CRD) (formerly known as the Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH)), the California State Personnel Board and Office of Administrative hearings. Vanessa also advises employers on policies and compliance with an emphasis on leaves of absences under the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the California Family Rights Act.
Prior to joining the Firm, Vanessa worked for over a decade at the California Department of Justice, Office of Attorney General as a Deputy Attorney General where she was involved in various civil trials, evidentiary hearings and complex investigations.
