Nathan is an attorney on the Firm’s Labor and Employment team in Chicago. He invests significant time into learning a client’s business to meet the client where they are to advance and protect its interests while appreciating varied risk tolerance and defensive strategy alignment. Nathan leverages his former professional experiences within corporate human resource functions in Fortune 100 and 200 companies to provide a collaborative approach to representation. He prioritizes proactive, client-centered engagement to identify and recommend the right path forward in preventing, resolving, and litigating pending matters.
Nathan routinely supports day-to-day HR and compliance efforts including policy development, transformation advice and risk assessment related to reductions in force, restrictive covenants, workplace investigations and opinions (e.g., EEO, ADA, FMLA, FLSA), and in the defense of employment lawsuits, administrative agency charges and audits, labor actions, and regulatory charges.
Prior to joining MHS, Nathan worked as a senior associate at an AmLaw 25 firm in Chicago in its L&E practice group where he represented global clients in employment litigation matters throughout state and federal courts involving Title VII, wrongful termination, the ADEA, and FLSA misclassification. Prior to that, Nathan worked as a L&E litigation associate at a Midwest based law firm and for the City of Chicago where he served as an assistant corporation counsel in various capacities, including defending allegations of constitutional and statutory violations (Section 1983). Nathan began his legal career serving as an assistant district attorney in Boston, Massachusetts.
Nathan earned his law degree from Suffolk University Law School. He earned his bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Northeastern University. Nathan enjoys distance training (8x marathoner, including two international marathons), traveling with his husband and twin toddlers, and discovering new wines and bourbon.
