Janine is an attorney in the Carlsbad office. She represents employers in employment defense matters, including claims of discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, and wage and hour violations. Janine brings a methodical approach to her practice and a genuine interest in helping clients navigate both the legal and practical dimensions of their workplace issues.
Prior to joining MHS, Janine practiced civil litigation at a regional firm, handling disputes involving contracts, real estate, corporate governance, products liability, and privacy. Before transitioning to litigation, she served as a Corporate Liaison for Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego and built a foundation in the legal field as a paralegal – experience that informs the practical, client-centered perspective she brings to her practice today.
Janine earned her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law, where she received a CALI Award in Jurisprudence and the USD Enhancement Award, served on the Dean’s Council, and led the Black Law Students Association as President. She holds a B.B.A. in Marketing from Georgia State University.
Janine is a member of the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Association and the Lawyers Club of San Diego. She is passionate about mentoring law students and early-career attorneys entering the profession. Outside the office, Janine enjoys yoga and hiking.
