Michelle is a partner in the Firm’s Southern California office. She represents clients in all aspects of labor and employment and has extensive experience defending employers and their employees in cases involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, employee discipline, whistleblower issues, and state and federal wage-and-hour claims. She regularly provides advice and counsel to employers on compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations covering a wide range of issues related to employment and business practices.
Additionally, Michelle represents companies and individuals in all areas of general liability civil litigation, with a focus on the defense of claims involving personal injury, premises and property liability, and violations of the federal and state disability acts (Americans with Disabilities Act, California Unruh Civil Rights Act, and the California Disabled Persons Act).
Prior to joining Martenson, Hasbrouck & Simon, Michelle represented public entities and municipalities in employment, personal injury, and property liability claims.
Michelle graduated magna cum laude from Rutgers University (New Brunswick, NJ) with a B.A. in Political Science and Spanish. She graduated magna cum laude from California Western School of Law (San Diego, CA).
