Robert’s practice over the last two decades has focused on litigating complex, multi-party wage and hour class actions and Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) representative actions on behalf of employers in state and federal court. Robert is an experienced litigator in MHS’ California’s class action and PAGA practice and has utilized a highly strategic approach to defeat class certification, obtain dismissals of class and PAGA claims, and position cases for early resolution on terms favorable to his clients. Robert’s clients appreciate his focused, practical approach which has enabled them to achieve their desired outcomes as efficiently as possible. Robert has represented clients in a variety of industries ranging from small, locally owned-operated businesses to multinational organizations with tens of thousands of employees. Robert’s practice is national in scope from New York to Alabama to California to Washington state. Robert handles litigation venued in a single state, such as California, through all 50 states and U.S. Commonwealths such as Puerto Rico.
Robert routinely litigates Labor matters on behalf of national and international employers involving organized labor and trade unions. He is an experienced in Labor Arbitrations and Mediations involving various Federal Governmental Agencies. Robert also litigates single plaintiff employment claims involving claims for discrimination, harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, and wrongful termination. He has navigated several cases through trial to jury verdict in areas such as business and tort disputes, trade secret/unfair competition, products liability, personal injury, wrongful death, and maritime injuries and death.
Robert has appellate experience and success handling appeals, writ petitions, and amicus briefs on issues such as class certification, manageability and due process concerns associated with trial. Robert was raised in the suburbs of Albany, New York, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Robert received his Juris Doctor from Albany Law School in Albany, NY. While in law school, Robert served on the Editorial Board of the Albany Law Review as a Note and Comment Editor. In law school, Robert completed a summer class in Montreal, Canada with then United States Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist as the instructor.
In his spare time, Robert enjoys hiking, road trips, hitting the beach, hitting the slopes in the mountains and working pro-bono with selected non-profit organizations to improve their services for communities throughout the state.
